DOWA HOLDINGS CO., LTD.

DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD. (14-1, Sotokanda 4-Chome, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Capital: 1 billion yen; President: YANAI Yasuharu; hereinafter "DOWA ECO-SYSTEM"), a subsidiary of DOWA HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (same location; Capital: 36.4 billion yen; President: SEKIGUCHI Akira), plans to construct a base facility for its environmental management and recycling business in Kumamoto in 2025. This initiative is in response to Japan’s increasing demand for products and services contributing to resource recycling and decarbonization in Japan. To further expand its business, the company has decided to establish a complex base facility for its environmental management and recycling business (hereinafter the "New Base") in the North Kanto area, following the one in Kyushu. For this purpose, the company has acquired an industrial site in Section 2 of Oyama No.4 Industrial Park, which will be newly established in Oyama City, Tochigi.

The newly acquired site is located in a strategic place connecting Tohoku and Kanto regions, which are major business areas for DOWA ECO-SYSTEM’s operations. For this reason, the establishment of the New Base will not only contribute to strengthening the business network in the Tohoku and Kanto regions and improving the productivity of existing sites, but it will also enhance logistics capacity and expand the service area. In this way, DOWA ECO-SYSTEM will address the increasing demand for products and services that contribute to resource recycling and decarbonization from existing and new customers.

As the New Base will be located only about 2.6 kilometers from MELTEC Co., Ltd. (2333-29 Oaza Yana, Oyama-shi, Tochigi; Capital: 90 million yen; Representative Director: SUZUKI Tomoya; hereinafter "Meltec"), a subsidiary of DOWA ECO-SYSTEM, it will initially be utilized by Meltec. Crushing and separation equipment will be installed and used for the reshipment and storage of waste to reinforce activities supporting waste recycling needs, which are expected to rise.

Furthermore, at the New Base, DOWA ECO-SYSTEM plans to develop new businesses such as the recycling of solar panels, which are expected to be discarded in large quantities in the future, and the manufacturing of solid biomass fuels such as Biocoke, which is expected to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society. In addition, DOWA ECO-SYSTEM will pursue the development of a new recycling loop and the co-development of recycling technologies through strengthened cooperation with various industries, as there is a well-balanced accumulation of industries in Tochigi, including automobile, aerospace, industrial machinery, and other transportation machinery industries, as well as industries related to medical devices and medicinal products.

The DOWA Group will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society by increasing the sophistication of its business network and bolstering its environmental management and recycling business in Japan and overseas.
